Updated October 6, 2026What I do with what you tell me.
Short version: I ask for a name and an email so I can write back. I do not track you around the site, I do not sell anything, and you can ask me to delete what I hold.
Who I am
Nickelfall is the photo and video business of Dave Bowatta in Sudbury, Ontario. It is a division of Auxcura Inc. In this policy, "I" and "Nickelfall" mean Dave Bowatta and Auxcura Inc. operating as Nickelfall. I am responsible for the personal information described here.
What I collect
What you send me. When you use the booking or contact form, or write to info@nickelfall.ca or dave@nickelfall.ca, I receive your name, your email address, the kind of work you are asking about, a date if you give one, and whatever you write in the message.
Collaboration requests. The collab form also asks where you are from, your Instagram, TikTok or other social links, an optional portfolio or mood board link, and what you have in mind. I keep a record of each request, with the date you agreed to the collaboration terms and which version you saw. The record is kept in an append-only log that only the studio team can open, and your IP address in it is stored only as a scrambled code, not in the clear. I use it to decide whether to reply and to show what you agreed to.
Technical details. Like any website, the servers that deliver this one see your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. I do not use these to build a profile of you.
How the site is used. I use Google tools to collect information about how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors are. I use it to improve the site, not to identify you. See cookies.
Nothing else. There is no account, no newsletter sign-up and no payment on this site, and no advertising trackers.
How I use it
- To reply to you, and to plan and deliver a session you have asked about.
- To send you a short confirmation that your message arrived.
- To keep a record of enquiries and sessions for running the business, including accounting and tax.
- To keep the site secure and stop spam.
- To learn which pages are read, so I can improve the site.
I do not use your details for marketing unless you ask me to, and I do not sell or rent them.
Photographs of you
If I photograph you, the images are personal information too. I only publish photographs of people with their permission, and I will ask first. If you later want a photograph taken down from this site, write to me and I will remove it.
How long I keep it
I keep enquiries for as long as I need them to reply, plan the work and meet my accounting and legal obligations, then I delete them. The record of what you agreed to in a collaboration request is kept for as long as I use the work we make together, since it is the proof of that agreement. Client photographs are kept as long as is reasonably useful for delivery and re-orders. If you want something deleted sooner, ask.
Your choices
You can ask to see what I hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to ask me to stop using it. I will answer within a reasonable time and may need to confirm that it is you first.
If you are not happy with how I have handled your information, tell me and I will try to put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
This site is not aimed at children. If someone under 16 has written to me, a parent or guardian can ask me to delete it.
